About Me I'm a lifelong resident of Portland, Oregon where I live with my wife and daughter. Photographer's Statement and Biography Though I had been a casual photographer for most of my life, my interest in photography became a passion in the last few years. It was sparked by an interest in trying to capture on film aspects of items that I collect and find interesting. To reveal what I wanted to see and capture was technically very demanding. It quickly morphed into a trip down the “rabbit hole” of learning to really see what I was taking a picture of and how to record it effectively. I find the process of “stripping away what doesn’t matter” to discover the essence of a subject exhilarating. More and more I now see life as a collection of moments – a sunrise, the explosion of color in a greasy puddle, a child happily playing. Through my photographs I strive to record and convey the essence of what I saw and felt at that particular moment. In the case of a planned photo, I try to convey what I want the viewer to see and feel as he or she looks at my photograph.
